this is probably an issue with the knob (hardware) itself and nothing software based. if you have a music dealer close to you, or any type of repair shop for electronics, contact them. they might be able to "clean" the knob and the problem might get away. alternatively contact us and we'll try to find an alternative (which involves sending the Virus Classic to germany)

Zitat von aaronsim1: „so there's no way to audition how the release/delay/reverb fades out unless you play the entire MIDI sequence till the end OR play live using a MIDI keyboard?“ yes

  • Benutzer-Avatarbild

This is by design. You need to route the MIDI from your Virus through the DAW back into the Virus again to hear it. Contact support by email if you need further assistance

Zitat von psylence: „It definitely thinks it's a virus, I mean look at the design and the knobs are probably the same. Not as fat sounding as a virus, wonder how much it will be priced.“ i've played it. it's not a virus at all, even though many design decisions he took are apparently heavily inspired

Zitat von optik: „Due to the ongoing problem of slipping clock when you connect this way, I decided to set the virus as the master clock and the sk48 as slave - boom, the virus sounded just like it does in VC/Cubase, a little bit duller and less.. stereo. ( should note that in the settings of the virus it still indicated 48khz as the sample rate)“ let's just say, from a digital point of view it is the same signal.

    Virus control & midi

Marc - - Virus TI related discussions

    Beitrag

@theRoyal1 the virus ti uses USB2 with a speed of 12mbit/s. are we really about to discuss this again? and, why we are discussing this here? the powercore has no analog outputs, so there cannot be a delay for obvious reasons. the crackling, i'm sure we JoPo can get rid off, many others have as well.

    Virus control & midi

Marc - - Virus TI related discussions

    Beitrag

Zitat von JoPo: „The other really annoying issue with the Virus controler is the huge difference of timing between a sound outputing thru USB and the other thru one of its anazlog output !! Up to 50 ms ! And the really bad thing is that this timing shift in sound is never the same ! It goes from 25ms, up to 50 ms with 512 buffer size ! So outputing percussive sound thru analog outputs is never in time ! If at least the timing shift would always be the same, I could handle with that.“ that's well…

get in touch with support by email if what RA recommends doesn't help. turning on the virus before the mac doesn't make a change though.

Zitat von maximerased: „Another question I have regarding OS 4.9 Build 050 installed on Virus Classic - OS 4.9 Build 050 comes in 2 versions "S" and "T", which one is compatible with Virus Classic?“ should be T if I my memory serves me well ...

Zitat von dfluid: „Thanks, I bought a usb to usb c cable after using 2 other usb cables with adapters. I still get the drop outs but had it working somewhat yesterday just as a midi device without using the software. Not sure how to remedy the drop outs. The Virus is recognized in Audio Midi and in Logic only sometimes.“ you get dropouts when you just send midi notes to the virus?

  • Benutzer-Avatarbild

if you have drop outs and disconnects you might want to take a look at the USB cables, USB hub and the hubs power supply (if applicable). i have a macbook pro from 2017 here and it works fine in logic. i'm using one of those multi port docks but a usb-c to usb adaptor works as well.

why don't you go to a dealer near you?

Zitat von Galileon: „Any new about this issue ? I havent found solution so sent desktop to service center. Waiting for results.“ there is no general issue, so there is no general solution. but if i'd be you I would contact support instead of sending your desktop to a service center prior to consultation from our end.

    Pushing polyphony!

Marc - - Problems and trouble shooting help

    Beitrag

Zitat von pixie42: „Still thinking about the different polyphony counts between single and multi. I was wondering if by chance there was a difference between multimode and seq mode regarding global polyphony? The multimode has the ability to disable unused parts to spare some midi channels. It might also save some precious computing cycles. I reckon most DAW users are running the TI on seq mode. I do. Could the sequencer mode be some kind of CPU hog, with all 16 parts running at the same time an…

Zitat von Fowleja: „Thanks for putting together that fix Marc, it's finally worked! Surely that needs to be a highly visible video as anyone with High Sierra is not going to be able to use their virus unless they run through that tutorial.“ the video is not from us. thanks for the kind words anyway. in fact, the web is full of similar reports, just google "high sierra extension blocked" for instance. a good portion of the audio industry has the same problem with high sierra.

Zitat von pixie42: „Since I know all my synth's PSU are a ticking bomb, and with a limited life span, i usually turn off the power supply rack when I'm not using the gear. I guess it's quite relevant for a TI PSU, which is always powered and doesn't sport an hardware switch on the rear.“ i wouldn't generalise your statement. i barely ship replacement PSUs and even the oldest bricks we have in the office still work fine. some got noisy, but that's a different issue.
