How to Assign Control Pedal in Virus TI in Remote Mode to send CC messages in sequencer

Hello,
I want to use the Virus TI control pedal input to trigger something in Ableton Live. Is is possible to do this on the TI? I've got the pedal assigned to CC 63, and I'm not receiving any midi messages inside Ableton. Are you able to use the control pedal input to send CC messages, or does it just effect patches on the Virus?

I've just done some more experimenting and it appears my control pedal input is not sending any midi signal whatsoever. Is this a flaw in my hardware? or is there a setting I can change inside the Virus to fix this?

is the USB connected? is VC started? or are you working in standalone? In VC it may come out as automation. If the USB is connected without VC running, check the "Virus Synth MIDI in" port that's available to your OS. If in stand alone that's really weird - maybe try the MIDI thru port?
