Stepped modulation with LFO

Does anyone know of a way to apply stepped modulation to parameters automated by an LFO? Is it possible?

use the sample and hold and set the trig phase to 1 and lfo rate to 16
that should do it

I was hoping there was a way to to use the selected value in the smoothing mode as the stepped value. If anyone knows if that's possible, pls share!
