...once my "My Patches.mid" file is filled with 128 patches, or does it exist and I missed it?
A way to rename an existing .mid without navigating the folder tree structure would be nice as well.

OK, I found it at last - it was hiding at the very bottom of the per-channel [SAVE] button patch list. It doesn't appear in the [LOAD] button list which is similar but not quite. So, what I would suggest is to put it first. It's just one option, it wouldn't bother anyone, but at the same time no one would miss it...
(Problem solved) Need a way to create a fresh empty .mid file in the patches directory from virus control and VSTi...

Just copy the My Patches folder and save it as a different name. Now overwrite the patches.

Thanks, I thought about that. Actually the problem is that I want to create a new collection of just a few patches from here and there, but nothing else besides that. Not enough patches to overwrite all those I already have in "My Patches.mid".

Then copy "blank" patches into the bank.
-
But then they will show up as patches without names, won't they? I'm well aware of the workarounds. I'm just asking for a straight forward way to do it.

I see what you mean. I would like to discover this answer with you. I have a huntch that if you were to move your my patches file to a different folder and then reinstall the Virus Control software if might creat a blank my patches file that you could then rewrite over and over again by renaming it as you go.

Reinstalling the virus S/W sounds a bit scary, but maybe I can look inside the .cab (or whatever) file and pull it out. Another way would be to ask Windows to create a new .mid file. Hopefully it would be acceptable by Virus Control. But still these are all workarounds, and I would be much happier if Access had that option built in.

I don't use VC anymore due to all the crackling I get from doing so, but didn't these later OS versions allow the user to create their own user midi file right from within the VC plugin/browse tab? I could have sworn I right clicked, or something similar and found an option to create a fresh midi file for which to store patches into. ???

Hey Fringe, does it even crackle when you use VC with direct outs?
That's right, I totally forgot about the right click create.
