It should be the same as buying a dedicated USB PCI(x) card for your desktop PC/Mac, to be used only with the Virus, which people have reported to improve their situation.
Did anyone try getting a USB-port express-card for their laptop in order to solve the load issue?

I use one. Only use Belkin cards as they have the correct chipset. Others are very unpredicatble. For example the maplin ones are useless.

I tried buying 2 different USB PCI cards.
Neither of them resolved my issue, which was that 4.5.3.00 would not find a Virus connected to my computer when running the installer.
It doesn't make sense because an old version (3.x.x.xx) worked fine on my standard USB ports (even when connected not through the expansion card).
Edit: Just read in the title you wanted to discuss laptop cards. This example is on my desktop. Sorry about that
