Trying to recreate this sound

  • A few pointers:
    - The underlying raw oscillator sound seems to be 2 saw waves an octave apart (e.g. one 0 semitones and the other +12 semitones, no detune).
    - Start with just filter 1. Give it resonance around the middle position. Set it to a low cutoff frequency because you are going to modulate cutoff upwards.
    - Since this bass is very staccato, the filter envelope might not give you what you want. Use LFO2 in ENV mode instead, with its pre-routing to the filter cutoff frequencies (use a positive value). The waveform should be triangle, and the contour should be low, to give you a snappier attack (remember that you can also change the rate).
    - Try some of the effects in the saturation module. You can also use the assignable routing slot of LFO2 to increase the saturation (OSC Volume) as the cutoff frequency goes up.
    - Give the amp envelope some tail.
    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the tips! Got very close within VC itself but the sound is a still bit off. I think the rest will be the usual TR understated post signal distortion.
