Sound Diver for Virus B

  • Hi all,

I recently bought a second hand Virus B on E-bay. (And probably paid too much for it -- damn that Buy It Now feature. But I digress.)

Anyway, trying to figure out how to install and download patches onto my computer. I've tried Midi-Ox, but I'm not having much luck with that. Is the free version of Sound Diver still available? I've seen lots of references to it being on this website, but I can't actually find it anywere.

    Thx.

  • Sound Diver is pretty hard to find these days but i reckon you can email access support and ask them if they can send you a copy.

Anyway, here are some options you can look into:

    1) Mysteryislands-music.com made a VSTi Librarian Editor Plug-in for Access Virus a,b and c users @ http://www.mysteryislands-musi…-editor-librarian-plug-in

    2) MidiQuest @ https://www.squest.com/Products/MidiQuest11/index.html

    3) Virus Editor @ http://rekonaudio.com/access-m…ail/7/flypage/26?sef=hcfp

Mac Pro 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 28GB Ram, 4 TB Hard Drive, Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon, 7GB Ram, 2 TB Hard Drive
Logic Pro X 10.2, OSX Yosemite, Motu Ultralite,
    Access Virus TI Desktop [5.1.3.00]

  • Thanks, davidgary73. Support at Access were wonderfully prompt. However, the damn thing doesn't actually solve my problem. :(

Or any of my problems. Although I can happily connect via midi backwards and forwards, whatever I try to use to send midi control files or sysex files doesn't seem to recognize the Virus.

So, old copy of Cubase. Someone has made a very nice panel that controls the existing patches really nicely. What it won't do though, is accurately list the patches that are stored, or send replacement patches.

Similarly, I've been trying to update the OS. Cubase seems happy to send the midi file. Virus doesn't seem to want to recognize that a file is being sent.

I guess I'm in for a whole lot of trial and error, but thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

  • What is it you're trying to do? Sound Diver will help you load and organise patches onto your Virus B, the only thing is Sound Diver was discontinued so long ago you will need an old operating system to be able to install and run it ...

Not necessarily so, since i have it up and running on my Win 64 system. It has to be run as administrator and there are some hickups when calling the help file, but for the time being I can live with that.

    Perhaps I got lucky?
