unsure about some control sources in mod matrix

  • Hi forum

Another possibly noob question from a new Virus owner... I am just going through the manual and I am reptty new to hardware synths and just wasn't sure what some of the sources in the Mod Matrix actually were, if anyone could explain that would be appreciated...

    Here they are:

Breath, Chan Pressure (is this aftertouch?), controller 3, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, Data Entry, Balance, Velocity on and off, Anakey 1, 2 coarse and fine, 1% and 10% constant...

sorry again if these are really obvious...

  • Breath - MIDI CC #2
Channel Pressure - correct, it's aftertouch
Controller 3,9,12,13,14,15,16 - MIDI CC (continuous controller) numbers
Data Entry - MIDI CC #6
Balance - don't know that one
Velocity on - speed with which a key is struck
Velocity off - speed with which a key is released
Anakey - random modulation sources designed to simulate analog oscillator drift
1% and 10% constant - useful if you want to add a constant offset to some parameter

    Hope this helps.

  • Generates a random value for every note.

So for example, with Osc pitch as the destination, hitting the same key over again would give you a different note-pitch each time?

  • Here's another Mod Matrix source I'm puzzled about: "Portamento Sw". Played with it a bit but couldn't figure it out. (And does "Sw" mean "switch"?) Anybody know what this does? I'm sure I'm gonna kick myself...

    Thanks!
