Pascal-
It is not missing, just hidden. Search is your friend:

i think an hardware step sequencer like the elektron one would make the virus ti the best machine ever built!
Thanks DJKeys for the link.
I have had seen this one but this is not exactly what I am looking for. Besides I found this technique rather laborious.
The Step Sequencer function I would love to see is one like you may find with a Moog synth : Start Recording + press a series a keys on your keyboard + Stop Recording. And off you go with a note sequence. That would be a greatly creative function.

Yes, I agree. Just like it will be in the Prophet-6 I have on order!

Hi DjKeys!
How are you finding the Prophet 6 with the Virus? I also own a prophet 6 and a VIRUS TI2 polar, would like to know your opinions on how both synths work/complement sonically together! Thanks!!
...Or quit rejecting the best step sequencer ever made. Your piano roll in your DAW of choice.

The best step sequencer hands down has to be Numerology, nothing comes close imo
YMMV
Virus TI with Social Entropy Engine is a great combination: 8 tracks sequencing, independent length, forward/backward/pendulum, arpeggiator, chord memory, etc
Hrmmm doesn't look like they have any left. Are they still making the Engine?
John and his guys make them in batches. So far there have been 2 batches, one in october, the other in november.
I am sure after Namm they will do the next run. Until then he is busy finalizing the cv/gate expansion board.
Definitely my best buy in 2015.
Yeah looks seriously awesome. Wish there were something like that built into the Virus But until then I will stalk them. The CV gates look cool, are they 1 volt per octave? Did you pick that up as well or are they still in creation phase?

Numerology still wins
Although it is possible to use the Arp pattern to control transposition, a dedicated step sequencer would be great indeed. A single sequence per patch would be sufficient for most applications, but it would be nice if different sequences could be triggered depending on the note range, for example.
We currently use the Kirnu Cream plugin in MainStage to play sequences on any hardware or software synths:

Has a great set of features, but its yet another piece of the technology puzzle to keep happy and thus it still would be nice to have the sequencer directly built into the Virus.
Definitely would love a real-time step sequencer!
