Data Entry is MIDI Controller 6.

You can use MIDI Controller messages as input in the Mod Matrix and you can assign the Soft Knobs to send these Controller messages. But you can also use other devices or your DAW to send those MIDI Controller messages to your Virus.

Mod Matrix Parameters

The MOD menu contains all the parameters for the LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) and the Modulation
Matrix. You can use a wide variety of modulators to apply dynamic changes to the sound, such as vibrato or
tremolo effects, automated sweeps etc.

The modulation matrix is used for custom control routing. Six sources can be routed to three destinations
each. Available sources include the internal envelopes and LFOs as well as most MIDI contr ollers, channel
pressure (aftertouch) etc.. The list of destinations includes almost every Single Mode parameter in the Virus.

The information below applies to any slot in the matrix.

Off, Pitch Bend ... Random: Specifies the modulation source (envelopes, LFOs, MIDI controllers etc.). This
source can be simultaneously routed to a maximum of three destinations per slot.

In short:

• Soft Knobs can be configured to either send a MIDI controller message or directly control a parameter, or a ModMatrix slot assigment value (NOT the source)
• ModMatrix source can be configured to either a MIDI controller message or an internal control value (think "CV").
