Recording with external preamps?

    Hi All,

    New Access Virus Ti2 and first time stereo synth owner here.

    I was wondering how everyone chooses to record with external gear, ie preamps?

    Do you record in stereo (tr out to line in to L&R channel) or record in mono?

    I'm looking into building a 500 series rack and want to know if I should buy a dual set up, ie 2 preamps, or if I should just buy a single channel to record the synth in mono.

    Let me know if anyone has an external gear setup!

    Do you refer to the virus' inputs or outputs (record FOR or THE virus) ?
    Regarding production, I use the synths in stereo mode to tune and selec sounds but record all channels individually using the maximum outputs of the synths / expanders. This means not to play the MIDI alltogether and have the "downmix" in the sounth but record track for track to have full options later, when i want to use them.

    (Several steps of sound processing cannot be done with synths, even not with the TI i guess)
