Virus Control and Hardware Sequencer

  • Hello everyone,

I just bought a second hand TI2 desktop and I'm still exploring the unit.

My goal is to sequence the Virus with a hardware MIDI sequencer but use the plugin for patch editing and library management.

I use MIDI Patchbay to route Virus TI MIDI into Virus TI Synth.

I had to dig up my old MBP because of incompatibly with the latests versions of MacOS, but the plugin works fine.

The problem is : only the midi channel 1 works. All the other channels are unresponsive.

I first thought of a wrong midi channel routing but as the manual says "It couldn’t be simpler: the MIDI channel is always the same as the PART number (1 to 16)" in Sequencer Mode. So it should be straightforward.

With the USB disconnected, I am able to access all the MIDI channels in Sequencer Mode, as expected.

    So what am I missing ? :/

    Thanks !

  • What DAW are you using to host the VC plugin?

The VC plugin puts the Virus in a special TI mode which is different from Sequencer mode.

    Bass Player and Synthesist.
    Virus TI2 Darkstar | Virus TI2 Desktop | Sub 37 | Voyager RME | Machinedrum | Analog Four | Digitone | MPC Live | NI Maschine+
    Mac OS 13.5.1 (Ventura) | Cubase Pro 11.0 | Ableton Live 9.6 | Logic 10.4 | MainStage 3.4 | NI Komplete Ultimate 13 | RME Fireface UFX+

  • AFAIK you have to route MIDI through the DAW / Plugin Host / VC plugin.
