If you are going to use VC then go with a host that is VST compatible like Live or Cubase. I personally would not recommend AU or RTAS DAW's with VC i.e. Logic & pro tools, nothing but trouble.

Yep. I've done all this, but the DAW doesn't give me the option to select an output for one track as an input for another! ... to explain... I have set the output of the VST to bus 1 & 2 (actually named 'Built in Audio' on my computer) , but when I attempt to set this as the input to the Audio track, I'm not given this option - only the input that is set up in Cubases VST connections page , called 'Access Virus Stereo IN'.
To be honest mate I really think you need to RTFM...Its all there & the built in audio is NOT a bus...I give up,,,

Not sure you understand what I'm trying to do, and apologise if I wasn't expressing myself simply enough. It's obviously the sound of the midi track I'm trying to bounce to audio.. i.e. what's coming out of the speakers. What I want to do is record this sound into an audio track. Also known as bouncing the audio I believe.
I have tried 2 different sound sources... Primarily, it's the Virus I want to bounce down to Audio. I've tried with another VSTi too and I have the same problem there. The audio track just records silence.Yes I think so, I'm not sure you get what I mean about busses. You are not trying to bounce, this is recording ALL the tracks in your session onto a single stereo file typically. To record the VST you first need to set up a seperate audio track to record on. Then set the output of the VST track to say bus 1 & 2 if its stereo, Then set the input of the audio track to the same busses 1 & 2. Record enable the audio track & play the vst. The audio from the VST should now be going to the audio track which you can now record. Its been soooo long since I used Cubase that I cannot give you any detailed instructions but this is basically how its done in most DAW's & hardware mixers.
-
been a looooooong time since I used Cubase but can you not just bus the audio from the vst to an audio track & record??? Pretty much all DAW's have this simple capability.
-
This may be slightly OT but apart from jorg is there anybody else that is offically on access support? I know this guy marc chimes in now & again & then passes the buck to the 'official' access support team but seriously I think its just this one poor bastard dealing with everything...no wonder it sucks soooo bad. Feel free to speak up any of the other access support droids, or have you all been terminated already? Its about time we got some real answers from somebody apart from these 2 jokers who just continually blow smoke up everyone's ass.

What exactly is playing your midi arrangement in Cubase? Whatever it is THIS is what you need to record. Midi has no sound, only data. Doh!
-
You pretty much have to use one or the other, using the analog outs with the USB running will only give you more problems I'm afraid.

I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves on this one. Access have been working on VC for 5 YEARS & judging by the amount of problems people are still having with it they might need another 5 years to get that fixed so I would say the chances of getting them to make a patch editor are slim to say the least. Certainly nobody from access has chimed in on the thread, so I would say it is falling on deaf ears.
Cheers,Berni.

By pistes I asume you mean parts? What you are experiencing is running out of polyphony & is not a problem with logic, just the virus running out of processing power. Although there are 16 parts in VC you will run out of dsp long before you get to 16. Realistically 2-4 parts are usually all it is capable of before note stealing occurs.
Cheers,
Berni.

Well I gave up on VC years ago as it just does'nt work with my set up no matter what I do & never will. Like others have said it took up sooooo much of my time it was becoming counter productive to the music making process, i.e. too much time spent trying to fix something that cannot be fixed & not enough time producing music which is the reason I bought it in the first place. I just use midi/audio now as its the only way I can produce anything with the synth without pulling my hair out/wanting to throw the thing out the window.

I'd call that piano house...I could'nt hear much wobble bass to be honest.

Yes, you are not supposed to use the midi in/outs & the USB. Either use VC with the USB connection OR the midi/audio in/outs.
