    Hey all,

I had a problem recently when i was updating my virus.

As usual the installation process installed the audio and midi drivers fine but when it came to scan for my connected virus to update the firmware, it just scanned and scanned and scanned, in fact the process bar didn't go up at all it was like the installation froze on me and my only option was to cancel and try again. When i tried again i still had no success. Its weird because the audio / midi drivers were up to date and so was VC, BUT my virus OS wasn't up to date!!

However i did find a way to update my virus without any problems.

    1. Unplug your TI from the computer, unplug it from power and also take the power supply out of the power socket. Also remove any other cable going from/to the Virus TI.

    2. Next plug back only the power supply into the TI and the power supply back into the power socket. Then reset the unit by holding down the ARP EDIT button for a few seconds while the unit is in standby mode. Whenever this is done and the TI has booted up correctly, connect it back to the computer and try it again.

    3. If this doesn't work, try this: unplug the power from your Virus TI and remove any other cable going from/to the TI. Wait approximately 30-60 seconds. While plugging back in the power only, hold down the EXIT button. This will force the unit into USB BIOS UPDATE MODE. Next try again to load in the very latest OS

After trying that i successfully managed to update my virus!!

If anyone else is having a similar problem this should sort it out

I personally wouldn't bother selling my TI to get the TI2, even though there are some benefits like extra horsepower and a kinda redesigned unit with less weight. Like joey said who knows what the TI2 will have with future updates. As it stands though the Virus TI 1 is still a total beast and is an essential part of my studio.

Maybe in a few years i might upgrade but until then I'm happy :D

hm...can´t you use the analog outputs also when you switch to usb outs? can you describe this a bit more

    Hey mate,

When you have a sound in VC being outputted through USB, it will only output through USB directly into your DAW. However if you select one of the analogue outputs in VC instead the part will be routed to the outputs on the back of the virus and you can then take the signal wherever you want.

Doing this is only really helpful if you have enough inputs on your audio interface to connected the virus to, otherwise you may not be able to get the sound back into your DAW.

If you do have an audio interface with, say, eight inputs, you can connect the virus' outputs and still have a couple of inputs free for vocals, guitars etc.

Also a thing to remember is if you are using your virus as your soundcard then the first stereo output is already being used by your computer, but if you have a separate audio interface that you are using for your main ASIO driver, all of the outputs can be used for individual parts.

Each part can only choose one of these outputs at any one time.

    Hope that helped bud

    Hey everyone

This Tips and tricks area was looking pretty dead so i thought I'd kick start it off!!

So we all (should) know that we can get three outputs in VC via the usb outs, usb1 usb2 and usb3. However it is also possible to use the analogue outputs aswell! Just go to common part of VC as normal for selecting outputs and choose the stereo outputs instead of the usb outs!

As i have done a few times before is to use my first three sounds through usb1,2 and 3, then use the next three sounds through the analogue outputs on the back of the virus, really handy for routing through external compressors, mixing down without bouncing etc.

So thats six outputs in total!!! pretty handy eh! :L

So there you have it, a nice wee start to "tips and tricks", hope this helped some people who weren't aware you could do this

    Cheers
