That didnt work, unfortunately. Before I tried changing USB port I noticed that in 2 of the projects I have used the virus in, Virus Control won't work at all.
I tried changing the USB port and re-installing the drivers but made no difference.

thanks for your reply jorg,
im using a pc, latest update of cubase 5, and the only other usb device is a novation remote 61 sl.
if i close cubase, its only to use windows explorer and notepad and stuff, no other music programs. when i re-open cubase, i load up exactly the same project and the virus wont connect.
im using cubase 5 and virus control with the latest drivers (not beta). most of the time it works fine, but sometimes i try to open virus control and it says audio driver failed.
mostly it seems to happen if i close down cubase to do something else, then re-open it. when i re-open cubase, virus control gives me that message
the usb outs dont appear to have latency because they work as part of the virus control vst plugin, and are therefore included in the sequencer's latency delay compesation. the virus' analogue outs come into the sequencer as external audio inputs and as such cant be latency compensated. try adjusting the delay control on the midi channel feeding the part in question
how do you enable the spdif output?
i cant see it on the list, i must have done something stupid
