    here's some info to you:

the only component which is not 64 bit compatible is Virus Control Center. what we face right now are different issues we need to take a look at and especially the manufacturer of the driver has to take a look at. as for the Virus Control plug-in: midi works, audio doesn't.

in theory, the firmware can be updated by using the installer, not only Virus Control Center. That doesn't work right now but it is not a problem of 32 bit code. We are looking into this as well and my hope is that we can rather easily solve that part.

catalina in a problematic update for the entire audio industry. if you can, sit it out - that's what I will do on my music mac.

i'm writing this on 9/10/19 - i'll keep you posted.

yes, there is something strange. we have to dig i deeper (which is a problem because we're missing compatible DAWs). as for the audio output itself, we had 10.15 beta testers who confirmed that it _was_ working and we still need to investigate what the issue behind the release version is - for now, you need to use the analog outs.

i personally will stay away from catalina for the next month for my music mac, i've already received a ton of warning emails and as far as I can see, audio interface manufacturers also haven't issued any statement that indicates that things are working smooth.

    hope that helps, marc

    Dear Virus Users,

The current version of the Virus TI software suite is not 100% compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. What does that mean? Our preliminary test with the final version, which is available since a few days show that Virus Control opens and MIDI works but audio transport from and to the Virus TI doesn't work. Also, the core audio driver doesn't transport audio, so you cannot use the Virus as an audio interface for e.g. itunes.

Furthermore, as previously announced, Virus Control Center doesn't work anymore and there will be no replacement for the foreseeable future. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. We post news once available.

namely random devices not being accessible (Virus TI not found, Cubase eLicenser not found, Blofeld not found, SE-02 not found). Changing USB ports and hubs didn’t really help.

that's usually an electrical problem, in other words not enough current. i can't point you towards an item in the list but you need to make sure that all hubs and all devices connected to the hubs have enough energy. otherwise you'll see device disappearing randomly. you also should find traces in the various macOS logs for the disconnects.

Does anyone have a recommendation for virtual machine(s)?

some things work really well in Virtual Box (which is free). Once you have components such as drivers you might find that the learning curve is steeper than what you would get with Parallels or VM Ware. I've bought Parallels in the end, couldn't be bothered to find a solution the issues I had with Virtual Box. That's just my personal opinion, not an official recommendation.

Virus Control will continue to work? So can you confirm that there is a new 64 bit version of the plug-in about to be released?

so far it doesn't look like we need to do anything. the existing Virus Control works.

Virus Control and Virus Control Center are two different things.

Maybe it is possible to run the Control Center in a Windows VM on the Mac. If only needed once in a while this would be acceptable.

Do I understand it right, that the TI plugin (in my case for Logic Pro X) still work in future macOS releases?

absolutely. a VM would work and of course Virus Control (the plug-in) will continue to work.

I DONT KNO WHY , THE VIRUS DOESNT SYNC WITH THE VERSION WITH LOGIC X 4.6 ON HIGH SIERRA, THE PROBLEM IS WHEN TURN THE FILTER OR ANY BUTTON, THE LOGIC DONT RECONIZE THE AUTOMATION , IT ONLY ACCEPT THE WHEN I DO WITH THE MOUSE, SO IT'S SUCKS , ANYBODY HAVE THESE TROUBLE, ANYONE CAN FIX IT?

I guess you're talking about an issue which was introduced with a recent Logic version. Please contact Apple and let them know (if you haven't already). We will not be able to fix that. Our software hasn't changed.

Virus Control Center will not work in future macOS versions. As it turns out, we will not be able to supply a solution for that. Sorry, I personally wish that I'd have different news for you.

Virus Control will continue to work of course.

first of all, you always should try to connect the Virus directly and if that fails through a hub. the OP mentions a MacPro from 2015, I would assume he means the Mac Pro 2013 (the cylindrical one). I have one myself and the Virus connects just fine. Also, if you use a hub, only connect the Virus to this hub and nothing else.

As for TB3 to USB connectors / converters, most work just fine. I have a Doo Trouper here on a MacBook Pro just to give you an example. The issue with all those USB adapters is that even though you buy the same brand/model this doesn't guarantee that the chips inside are the same. Sometimes you just have to try.

Been using my TI2 in Cubase for a few years now and this issue has always been around for me but seems worse in Cubase 10 Pro.

I'm running the Virus with audio over USB, Windows 10 64 bit PC. Without any warning I'm getting a deafening burst of white noise, audio clipping on Cubase outputs and MIDI signal maxed out. The peaking meters stay stuck for around 10 - 15 seconds and then suddenly stops. I use a Fireface 802 and a few seconds after the white noise stops the normal audio resumes. The white noise is at a painful volume even though the audio in Cubase is at a low level. Any ideas?

in case it happens again, lower the channel, Virus Control is instantiated on to zero - this way you can find out if the noise comes from the Virus.

i don't think any of this is related and frankly, if it worked before you need to find out what has changed on your system. contact support by email to get help from us.
