I want to try the 10.12.1 update on its own too, to see if Apple have made their loader more clever - just in case.

Good work! Might also be worth finding out if the newly released 10.12.1 has any impact on this. There's a chance that the driver loading might be more clever in the new version.
-
Might be worth noting that Apple have just released a .1 version of Sierra.
-
I doubt that it would be a re-write. Probably some API changes. I'd have to see the detail though.

Interesting post by Matthias on RME's forum:
"Apple is soon to release macOS Sierra, 10.12. What makes it a bit special for us audio freaks is that Apple continued to work on their USB stack, and also provides new libraries to be able to use the changed technology in full. According to our tests the result seems very positive for USB audio - it seems more stable, reliable and even quicker by making lower latency settings operational with less dropouts."
Various feedback on their forum appears to confirm that there are indeed performance improvements.
Wonder if new Virus drivers would take advantage?

Access are not the only company who's not got this sorted yet. Elektron's Overbridge is also awaiting updates.
-
I suspect that there may be API differences to take into account too.
Just re-signing might not be the end of it.
-
Sure - a read of the article makes that clear.

This is worth keeping an eye out for Virus owners!

Tbh, I'd be happy if we had a software editor which is purely that. I find it much easier to put patches together via the plug-in than on the Virus front-panel.
...but, if I were Access (and the company was still viable), I'd be writing my own audio driver.

Yes - which is why I added the smiley.
-
That's strange, both my analogue Moogs have been updated several times.
OK - so they're DCO analogue machines, but still...
-
The "Live" button on the VST GUI helps.
-
Tbh, I just disconnect the USB.

On my Supernova 2, the DACs on the main outputs developed noise. They are different devices to the DACs on the other outputs, since they have a volume input.
Maybe it's similar on Virus?
Could be one of the DACs causing your fault, or could be further downstream.

Actually, I didn't say that.
I said "essentially have a USB3 hub converting Virus' USB1.1 to USB3."
You may have missed the apostrophe after the "Virus".
The 1.1 stream comes out of the Virus and into the hub. The hub's translator converts it to USB 3.0 on the other side. Connection of a hub doesn't make the Virus' hardware transmit or receive USB3.0. I wasn't suggesting that it did.
So, the hub essentially converts the Virus' USB1.1 coming in one side, to USB3.0 on the other side.

I don't think it really helps with some of the sync issues, but I don't use arps etc.
-
Quite possibly. I can only vouch for my setup though - obviously.
-
Nope - I have Rytm, Analog4, Octatrack, Tempest, Steinberg dongle and iLok dongle connected to the Overhub.
I'm not ever-so happy with Overbridge at the minute, so I'm not using the connection to those other devices for any kind of streaming. So, sysex transfers, MIDI notes etc.
I have a second 7 port Belkin hub, for MIDI connection to a whole load of other devices.
...and a Superdrive connected directly to the Mac Pro's USB ports, because it needs powering.

I was sure that Access did say at some point that Virus uses a USB2 device?
Sorry if I'm adding to confusion on that.
There are still rumours to that effect around the Internet, I've just been reading some (not started by me I might add).
Here's a real clanger though - SonicState reckon Virus IS USB2!
