    Hey guys,
can't find a solution anywhere so I'm going to post my troubles here.

I own a TI2 Desktop, it works (not really well) using USB audio + Virus Control, but when I try using the audio outputs... well, it's really painful.

USB audio + Virus Control trouble:
When I play a sound, mostly when using long ones like pads, I can hear something weird like bit-reduction at the end of it cutting the tail of the sound.

    Audio Output troubles:
    1. Using the Virus Control and setting audio outputs as main output I can't get any sound, I can see lights on my mixer and soundcard, so it's working, but I can't hear anything.

    2. I can hear sound from the audio outputs only if I unplug my USB cable from the Virus OR using it without Virus Control.

    3. When having sound without using Virus Control, only when my usb cable is plugged in, I get a really bad background noise (reminding me hum/ground loop noises), really similar to this one. It disappears when I unplug the USB cable.

    What did I try:
    - hum destroyer between my mixer and the soundcard, it works like a charm with the rest of my instruments
    - using different sequencers
    - different USB cables
    - different audio cables
    - reinstalling the software
    - trying newer or older version of the software
    - changing sample rate
    - changing buffer
    - restart Virus
    - restart my computer
    - changing power socket

    Hope everything's clear.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello,
Ableton Live unfortunately does not offer a "realtime" rendering function, which basically means that the TIs audio needs to be recorded onto an audio track, otherwise you won't be able to render a final mixdown in Ableton Live with the TI sound in it.

    Best wishes,
    Jörg Hüttner

There's a workaround, just put an External Instrument Device (in the Instruments folder in Live) in the project, choose a "MIDI TO" and "Audio From" (it's not important what do you choose, just random) and put the Gain level to -inf. DB (no sound).

Doing like this Live will export your project in realtime.

    Hi guys!

I decided to put, instead of a static image background as always, a video of Ableton Live running my new track, just want to share it with you!
This track is made with my Reaktor Ensembles, the Roland GAIA and the Virus TI2.

It's just something to let see people the way I work on my tracks.

The vid just shows the track running on the Arrangement view, but maybe I'll make some vids in future showing how I create my things.

    You totally helped me!
I disabled all the MIDI settings in Live, and I connected the Virus directly on my Mac, switching the Hub with the HD on another Hub, now everything seems to be nice!

Marc, I appreciate your help, but as I said in my first post:

    Zitat

I know, there is a Setup Guide for Sequencers, but there isn't a section where I can see how to setup the midi preferences in Live 8.

The Ableton Live setup guide is for Live 5, now Live is at version 8, and there is a Midi Setup where you can choose to activate or not MIDI Track / Sync / Remote both for "Virus TI MIDI" and "Virus TI Synth", I already read the manuals, and I can't find something useful about that.

I'm just asking if someone in this forum knows the right way to set it up without having any problem.

BTW I'll try to ask it on the Ableton forum too.

    Thanks

    Hi,
I love my Virus TI2, but I'm having problems from the day it arrived at home, so now I decided to ask for some help.

    I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2010.

First - MIDI SETUP IN ABLETON LIVE:

I know, there is a Setup Guide for Sequencers, but there isn't a section where I can see how to setup the midi preferences in Live 8.

There are 3 buttons for Input and 3 Buttons for Output, these buttons are Track - Sync - Remote.
In my Setup I just have the "Track" ON for Input and Output, is that correct or I need to set it up in a different way?
There are things to adjust in the Midi Clock Sync Delay / Midi Clock Type / Port Type configuration area?

This is an example image of the Midi Setup in Live (just downloaded from Google Images):

Second - OUT OF SYNC / CLICK & POPS:

My soundcard is a Presonus Firestudio Mobile (just bought), in Ableton Live I have a 256 Buffer Size, my Virus TI2 is connected through USB to a power-packed HUB (I know, it's not recommended but It's my only choice) that's shared with just an External Hard Drive and I use the Virus TI Software as an Audio Unit on Mac OSX - I updated the software to the latest version.

Using the "Live" button in the Software doesn't change anything, rather sometimes it's worse.
I tried other Soundcards and I have same problems.
    My CPU Meter isn't high (I always reach 60 / 70% max)

Thing is, I just want to know, is that possible that's because I'm using USB with a HUB, or just because using it with USB causes these problems?
Is that possible that if I use MIDI cables and Audio Outputs instead of the USB cable I solve all these problems?

    I just want a stable setup.. :(
I hope you can help me with that,
    thanks.

I use an old external soundcard (Terratec Phase26 USB), but only because the Virus hasn't enough inputs for my other instruments, I would love to use it as a soundcard (even because I think it works better with USB audio).
I bought too many soundcards until now, never satisfied.
The only thing to do now is waiting and buy a MOTU when I'll be millionaire. LoL.

    Cheers =D

    Hi everyone,
    I use Ableton Live 8.
I just connected my Roland GAIA outs to the input of the Virus TI2 Desktop, I can play it with the GAIA keyboard (setting the input in the VC), but I can't play the GAIA through the sequencer..

For example if I play notes in the Live piano roll I can't hear anything, same thing if I play the sequencer, I can only hear the GAIA playing its keyboard directly..

Can you help me with this?

Btw: the input need to be set Static or Dynamic?

    Thanks for the help.
