I've been creating drum patches and having fun.
I've been wondering if people have any good methods for achieving more accentuated envelope decays, to get some really punchy sounds. I know of the LFO Contour setting.

Well, okay, guess I got them reversed. But they sound the same apart from portamento, so what's the deal?
That's why I try every single time over and over. I gave up and am now using VirusHE.
No as I said it's like Mono 1 and 2, it's legato.
Lost connection while using VC (no audio) and can't reconnect. Sigh
Yeah I used to scoff at it for being a DnB darling but it really can pretty much do all you need and it's perfect for controlling a live setup as well as the possibility of it being the sole sound module.
I tried that tool and it seems to have worked. Thanks
Now I might not have to buy VirusHE...
I tried the tool, got Virus TI in midi4. Doesn't connect today! Don't feel like going through the "process" again. Gonna look into the VirusHC plugin to program it via MIDI ... because this is pitiful ...
Mono 3 and 4 are supposed to reset filter and amp envelopes on each note I believe? But they sound just like Mono 1 and 2. Something I'm missing?
Hi is it possible to preview the value of a knob when the global mode is set to Jump?
After trying two other cables and finding one that seems to make and keep a connection consistently. I now believe it is a hardware issue. I need to get this unit's mod wheels fixed so I'll see about getting the USB port replaced as well. We'll see if it happens again...
This is really pitiful. No matter what I do I cannot figure out how I got it to connect. I followed what I thought were the same steps. I even tried another laptop with WIN10. Imagine, a USB device that every time you want to use it requires you to uninstall its drivers, reset it , and put it into USB update mode before reinstalling , and perhaps a very specific combination of other variables such as cable, port, and when and how friendly you are to it when you connect it.
I made the mistake of closing Ableton and putting my Virus to sleep and waking it up to try to get it to output audio again because for some reason it stopped. Now it won't connect anymore!
Still incredibly slow but at this point I'm just grateful that it connected as this is the second time it took me about an hour to diagnose
[WIN11] I only got mine to work by deleting a bunch of stuff from Device Manager, uninstalling and reinstalling the sw, holding EXIT while power cycling and letting it go through the "update" (it's up to date). Lord knows if it will work tomorrow because I had it working the other day and then I assume it felt a draft and got all discombobulated.
Did not realize this. Thanks!
(Oop! Been posting but just noticed this subforum!)
Hi. My name is Roger, and I'm from Baltimore, Maryland. I am classically trained (piano, 10+ years) and I started doing electronic music about 6 years ago with Ableton, Reason, a Machinedrum and a Monomachine (both of which I no longer own). Most of my gear has revolved around Elektron, but in recent years I started branching out. My current setup revolves around Ableton, Octatrack, Digitakt, and a Virus TI Keyboard that I acquired a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed learning. Despite all its quirks it's proving to be everything I hoped for in consolidating things, leveling up my sound and giving me the confidence to do the kind of live electronic music that I've been imagining since I started. I vastly prefer working with hardware over plugins, but I recognize their usefulness in post-recording stages.
My favorite artists include Karin Dreijer-Anderson and her brother Olof, Thom Yorke, Bjorke, ionnalee/iamamiwhoami, Orbital, Martytn, Luke Vibert, and a Colombian duo called Mitu. I like melding electronic with afro-latin influences and though I like to genre-hopa lot I put my stuff under the umbrella of Techno.
I have put out a cover EP and a few singles. I also used to perform but haven't done it in a couple years. My passion is to express myself through music and have transcendent experiences. I also do sound design and sell packs.
Here are my other pieces of gear: Make Noise 0-Coast, Nord Drum 3P, Arturia Drumbrute Impact, Nord Lead 3, Korg NS5R, E-MU ESI-2000, and Model:Cycles.
Cheers!
Let us play the selected destination patch so we can know what we're about to overwrite.
EDIT: Thought it was user MIDI feedback but I think I was wrong, seems to be back.
If you press one note, then another note twice, the slide always happens twice. Like as if you had pressed the first note again, but you didn't, yet it slides from there again.
Wondering if this was a bug introduced at some point or if Virus has always behaved this way. Didn't notice it in a Virus Rack or the Osiris plugin.
