Virus Snow spits out a constant noise

  • Hi Virus users/access team,

My virus snow (i bought one from a friend a few days ago) seem to make a nasty noise when i use it as a soundcard.

The noise starts as soon as it powers up. And goes away when i unplug my krk rokits6. It also goes away when i unplug the USB cable from my PC (Windows 7 x64). It also goes away when i put it into sleep mode (duh!)

My DAW or VST isnt the problem, cuz its not even open and my PC is not even on.

Its connected with balanced TRS cables/jacks.

Cant wait to hear your thoughts!

  • My Snow is making a hi pitched noise whenever its connected to USB. I tried different cables USB/Audio. So I said "ef it" I'm going all analog-out and old school MIDI 5 pin. This doesn't work either because using the standard MIDI input produces a garbled mess of the audio. Huh?!!! WTF?! There's nothing wrong with MIDI cable. It plays nice with my other gear.

I've tried down/upgrading the firmware. Nothing.

My snow has caused me nothing but heartache and grief since day one. This is hands down the most abusive relationship I've had with any piece of gear I've owned.

    I've had enough. I quit!

you're posting in a thread which hasn't received a reply in two years. i'd take this as a sign that not everybody has your issue. we're happy to look at it and see what we can do, so please contact support by email. i wouldn't rule out that your Virus is simply having a hardware related issue.
