Cubase 7.5 buffer size problem..

  • Hi Marc,

I'm using Windows7 64bit, cubase7.5 64bit, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 as my audio interface, Virus TI Snow with VC5.0.8, andI'm having trouble finding a buffer size setting that will work. When I open my Virus Control VST I receive the following message:

"Virus TI has discovered a setup problem. The host is using an odd audio interface buffer size which causes communication problems. Please adjust the buffer size to any of the following sample values instead: 64,128,256,512."

However, the buffer size settings listed in the Scarlett 18i20 are all shown in milliseconds, and not sample size. I haven't been able to find anywhere I can select the buffer size in samples in the Scarlett control software or in cubase 7.5. Selecting anything over 11ms I receive the message, "Please choose a buffer size under 512" from the Virus VST, but all others I receive the previous warning message. Please advise on a possible solution to my problem. Thank you in advance for your time and attention in this matter.

    Best Wishes,
    Jason

  • Thank you for your reply Marc! That's what I've been doing, and I haven't had any problems so far, which is good. I also asked this question to Focusrite's support, and received a reply from them with a solution. I'll post their response below in case someone else has the same problem.

If you install the latest public beta version of Scarlett MixControl, you should be able
to select power of 2 buffer sizes (128, 256, 512, etc.) within Cubase. To do this you
will need to first ensure that Focusrite Scarlett ASIO is selected as the ASIO driver in
Cubase > Devices Menu > Device Setup > VST Audio System. Then, click on
Focusrite Scarlett ASIO listed on the left right below VST Audio system and then click
the button that says 'Control Panel'. You should be able to select the correct buffer
    size settings here.

Here is a link to the latest MixControl:
