MIDI Lag - Slow response using keyboard - Virus TI2 Polar

Hi Folks,

I have noticed that there is a slight delay in hearing the sound when playing the keys on my virus TI2 polar when using USB MIDI, whick makes it less enjoyable to play and potentialy it may be out of sync with time when playing a part in real-time.

I am using ableton live 9,
It happens both when using the virus VST and any other VST when using the Virus simply as a midi controller.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem, it's only a slight delay but enough to make playing the keyboard feel strange.

If you are using the TC, you will experience the full delay of all your latency round- trip. My advice is to use a soft synth to record your performance and then remap it to the virus afterwards.

Are there any tricks for improving latency that you know of?

I've not seen any, aside from using MIDI with a low-latency MIDI interface.

The "Live" button on the VST GUI helps.

In cubase if you have asio guard on, you get tighter latencies for the tracks armed to record. I'd have to double check it applies to a hardware/vst type. If you have a decent CPU you can set the asio time tighter in any DAW. Mines set quite reasonable so I don't notice the latency to need to use the live button.
