Thats not normal, do the lights dim in your house as more people in the street start to turn their lights on?
What happens if you switch the kettle on?
What part of the world are you in?
How old is the wiring in your house?

If you managed to get your head round the DX7 then you should have no problem with the Virus, it's really quite straightforward compared to certain synths of old.
Enjoy it
I don't know if you would be able to use any AU's in garageband - I've never used it, check in the manual if you can use them.
If not you should be able to get a simple AU host if you do a search for one, I wouldn't be able to recommend one for you as I've never had to use one.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
You should contact support , they're probably the best people to help you out with this.
oh also I am waiting on my new serial number so I can fully register
That's going to be a problem for you. No serial number = no register
Is there anything else connected to any of the other ports Marc?
When I try to watch the video tutorials on the Access website, all the links take me to the same Virus Control Overview video.
Where can I watch all the other videos?
Thanks
Any news on when it will be released?
PS: if you happen to play electric guitar, try plugging that in your virus. I tried this recently (straight in, no amp or di) & the results are stupifyingly superb!
I hadn't thought of that, what a fantastic idea
:off to try it out:
That looks great!!
I hope it's released soon
Ok Roderick5, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you - I'm not sure if you have figured this out by other ways yet.
I reckon that what you should do is look in the automation menu for something labelled (Part No) Filter1 Offset FL or Filter2 Offset FL
This will automate the two large dials in the centre of each filter. I'm assuming thats what you are trying to do
I think it should be a relatively straight forward procedure.
If you scroll to post #31 on this link you can see how it's done.
Thanks for taking the time to do that for us, I'm printing that off now
I'm not in the studio right now but next time I am there I will help you.
If you are using TI you should just be able to open up your automation then select the part & parameter you wish to edit.
Have you ever used a multi timbral instrument before?
ok thanks so just to clarify things the best route in using the virus with logic is usb? so no other connections are needed? except when its time to record the audio correct?
Correct, if you are only recording one part or don't want to edit any part of a multi timbral instrument then you don't even need any other audio connections. Just perform a real time bounce with normalisation & you're good to go.
Have a look at the tutorial song that came with the package, check out how it's been set up & routed thru Logic. That might help you figure out what works for you.
I have tried pretty much every combination of USB port available Marc, I've got all my connections maxxed out with different bits of gear & it's not easy to find a configuration that keeps everything happy & as you say the Virus seems to be the first to suffer.
I can live with the odd crackle every now & then when writing & I've got used to disconnecting non essential things when I want to use the Virus for a Mission Critical part of the process but I just overlooked the Time Machine drive the other day.
I use an USB drive for Time Machine, I had it running the same time as my Virus the other day & my Virus was really struggling to keep up with Logic.
The display was flashing SE every few bars. I think that means it's trying to correct it's timing? There were dropped notes in Arp patterns & also the dreaded crackles returned. Once I stopped Time Machine & disconnected the drive everything worked fine again.
I'm glad to see a pair of monitors in this picture, I bet the Virus sounds nice & bad ass through those
How do you find the Micro Q?
I think it's better to connect via USB, it takes a bit of trial & error to get it connected in the best port though. It doesn't say in the setup guide but it's worth noting that if you use Time Machine you should make sure that it is turned off when you want to use the Virus or else it could cause you all sorts of problems.
If you follow the TI setup guide you should be fine latency wise once you have selected the best USB port. I find that there is no difference in bounced audio quality between the audio or the USB.
