for some of the patches I use an "E" comes up on the far left of the display on my Virus TI2 Polar. I just installed the newest OS. Looked through the manual and did not find any answers. Anyone know what this means?

It means the patch is in the edit buffer and not in its "last saved" state

ok, thanks do you know if there is any documentation of what this means? does it mean I have to store it or does it not really?

It means that if you intentionally or by chance change patches (pressing patch > or <, or switching banks, or shit+soft knobs) you will lose your edits, so you would want to store the patch in a safe location
