I have just brought ARC 2 and a preamp for the mic and cant even get that to work as also i cant see how i can change my virus to be 48Khz???

It depends on your setup - for example, when connected using USB, the DAW overrides the bitrate. When in standalone, you can control it from the config menu.
How exactly are you planning to use the mic with the Virus?
