Modulation matrix: using CC messages as modulation sources

    I have a TI2 desktop, and I love it. :)


    Even though my MIDI knowledge isn't what it should be, I understand that I can assign a CC# to one of the soft-knobs, then use that same CC# as a source in the mod matrix so that with one knob I can modulate many parameters.


    But I have a few questions about Data entry (CC# 6): looking at all the options for sources in the TI2 mod matrix, I saw that there are CC# 3, 9, 12, 13, etc. and also "Data entry".
    --- Why is it called "Data entry" in the mod sources instead of just CC#6 ?
    --- Is there something special about the modulation source "Data entry" versus CC# 3, 9 or 13 ?

    This is a holdover from a standard naming convention for that parameter in most synths. CC#6 is Data on every piece of gear I own. But does anything respond to it? Not that I know of at any rate. If someone knows otherwise I am curious how it's used as well.
