Sign me up. My 10-year music Mac is now incompatible with too many other apps.

signofthejoker in my sequencer I use PC <multi #-1> without setting MSB:LSB. It works 100% reliably if the Virus is in multi mode.
Mine is a Virus TI2. I have not looked at the documentation to be sure Virus B is the same, but I would be surprised if it were different.

leker it’s a fairly complex process, but one that is routine for any company with an active software development program on the Mac or Windows platforms.
Lots of contributors on this forum have tried to influence Access to move this along, to no avail. It seems they are either unable or unwilling to do this.
As I’ve suggested many times, you could look into the alternative TI plug-in from auraplugins.com. Many here report it works well and is similar functionally to Access’ own tool, though some don’t love the UI.

MagicJukebox, I am quoting the email I just received seconds ago from Jani of Aura Plug-ins:
Hi Dov,
Yes our product works on macOS 10.15 and greater (intel or arm) with USB audio and MIDI.
Here is the guide: https://docs.auraplugins.com/k…b-audio-with-every-macos/
Kind regards,
Jani Kervinen
AURA Plugins Team
Access’s lack of support for their product is maddening, especially because they continue to sell it!
That said, the Virus is truly incomparable. With Aura Plug-Ins’ product, it continues to do what it was designed to do. -
Lioio I’m glad the Aura plug-in is working for you. I’ve had no problems using Aura is a patch librarian, though I don’t use it as a DAW plug-in.
MagicJukebox what about the Aura plug-in doesn’t work for you? Just curious…

An option I would consider if I were Access and did want to continue supporting the synth would be to partner with Aura Plug-ins. They have this working well, and would only need some effort to meet the higher UI standards of the TI plug-in.
I have a hard time believing a class action suit will be successful, and even it were, it would take years. By that time, all of this will be irrelevant.
My intuition is that Kemper doesn’t know what he wants to do for the future in the Profiler or Access categories. I may be wrong (I don’t follow what’s going on with the Profiler), but it seems that product has also become somewhat static and is beginning to fall behind competitors like Neural with their Quad Cortex. Likely the DSP chip in the Profiler is also nearing end of life and can’t be easily upgraded. If it’s coded in assembler, moving to a new DSP architecture means rewriting everything from scratch.

Did you email Jani directly via [email protected]?
That’s how I got responses. -
mobilohm search around this forum and you will see post after post lamenting Access’s total silence on this issue.
Some of us are using Aura Plug-ins Virus Hardware Editor, which works quite well.
That said, you can’t update the firmware on your synth using it.
-
I’m not experienced enough with my TI2 desktop to answer directly (though I can’t think of a way to do this).
However, you could simply duplicate the patch in a multi, delete the effects on the second copy and route this to a different output or pair of outputs.

cs759 look into the Mystery Islands/Aura Plug-ins Virus Hardware Editor. It supports the latest operating systems, and seems (based on what others in this forum are saying) quite reliable.
I have used it as a patch librarian, but don’t link it to my DAW, as I use a hardware sequencer, hence I’m telling you what others are saying about it’s usefulness as a “TI” solution in place of Access’ own software.
It’s maddening that Access has abandoned its user community and the product they still sell, but at least a third party is apparently successfully offering a credible alternative.

PitDellaCasa if you’re on Windows, the TI VST works.
On recent versions of MacOS, Access’s own VST no longer functions. If you are using MacOS, consider buying the Aura Plug-ins Virus Hardware Editor.
Other contributors on this forum report that it works well on the latest MacOS, as well as on M1 and M2 (non-Intel) Macs.

dysamoria assume we, the community of Virus users, are on our own.
Fortunately, the hardware is quite reliable, and the TI software has been almost completely replaced by Aura Plugs.

After some experience with the first template, I’ve changed the structure. Now I have two templates:
1. EQ & Dynamics
2. Effects
These draw on nearly the entire FabFilter suite, including Pro Q3, Pro C2, Pro L2, Pro DS, Pro R, Pro G, Timeless and Saturn. This has worked out incredibly well, thanks to the incredible Virus TI2!
-
Answering my own question:
Aura’s Virus Editor does not support editing the Virus TI remote templates.Fortunately, I was able to load TI in a simple VST host on my Mac. After an hour of poking around, I was able to create a new template which elegantly controls my FabFilter plug-ins.
Yet another awesome function of the Virus!
-
Or do I have to use Access TI?
-
Try the Aura Plug-Ins / Mystery Islands Virus Editor.
I use it just as a library manager, but many others on this forum have reported that it’s fully functional on current OS’s as a TI plug-in, including USB audio. -
abraxa that is very helpful. Thank you!

After experimenting a bit with my sequencer (Squarp Hapax), I’ve confirmed that once the Virus TI2 is in multi mode, sending a program change with the number of the desired multi+1 (the Hapax clearly uses base 0) selects the multi.
I disabled Program Change in each of the parts of the multi.
Success!
-
It’s obvious that the PC number is multi number.
What are MSB and LSB set to for the multi bank?
-
Thanks abraxa
Ok, so I have to either send a SysEx to switch into multi mode, or do it manually. No biggie.
What’s the pattern for program change to select a multi?
