Trouble with Virus Ti Desktop and Ableton Live Exporting to .wav

  • I have a track with some Virus Ti sounds in it. When I export the song into a .wav, I can't hear the synths. I understand this is because the Virus can't render in realtime or something like that, but I'm having trouble grasping what I'm supposed to do with an audio track. I've looked all over the internet, but I can't seem to get anything to work. So my question is, how do I set up an audio track in Ableton Live so that I can hear the Virus in my exported .wav?

The reason for the problem is that the TI is a hardware synth that should be rendered in real time, but since it interfaces with Ableton using a VSTi, Ableton forces it to be rendered offline. The solution is to add a dummy external MIDI instrument to the Virus' chain. Here's how to do it in detail: http://virus.info/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=2066
edit -- Another solution to the problem would be to set up a "loopback" in your ASIO ports and use an audio track to record from it while Virus plays into it, when the "record" button is pressed in the transport section.
