Creating Multis without using any sequenzer software

  • Hi everybody,

I was using the Rack XL for many years and now bought a TI2 keyboard.
Working some days with the machine I now know the a Multi is a little bit different than it was in the XL.

    I wanna do the follwing:

I have three single sounds (already edited and stored), call it A, B and C.
Sound C can be changed using the three soft knobs, A and B are unchangeable.
Now I want to create a Multi which will be stored at no. 20 (not 00 to 15 !).
Still sound C should be changeable with knobs below the LCD.

Can anybody explain step by step?

    Thanks, Michael

  • Things you have to check in the config menu:
    - That all the soft knobs are in single mode
    - What is your global channel set to (default is 1)
Things to do in the multi menu:
    - Put patch C in the part that corresponds to the global channel.
    - Put the other patches in other parts and the remaining parts should be turned off.
    - Set up key range as needed.
Store the multi in RAM 20 (or whatever).
Now, when playing this multi make sure that the currently selected part is the global channel (if you're using a MIDI controller it should be selected in the MIDI controller as well).
IIRC since the knobs are set to single they should only influence patch C, while the keyboard goes to all patches through the global channel.
    Hope this helps.

BTW, if A and B do not respond to the soft knobs anyhow, you can set them up as global and then you are free to set the global channel wherever you want.

  • I tried everything as suggested, but I still did not reach my destination.

    Config Settings:
    Global channel 1
    Midi Dev ID 1
    Local on
    Mode Multi channels
    Soft knob 1 Delay Depth
    Mode single
    Soft knob 3 Off
    Mode single
    Soft knob 1 Off
    Mode single

Single sound A no soft knob
Single sound B no soft knob
Single sound C soft knob 1 set to Effect send (Reverb) soft knob 1 set to Off soft knob 1 set to Off

    Multi
First three parts are used (sounds ABC) all others are off
    Sounds are not overlapping

I'm just playing with the keyboard, no ext sequenzer shall be used.

Ok, settings are done, I try to store the Multi to e.g. RAM 20:
    Button STORE
Destination RAM (selecting with soft knob 1)
Patch No. 20 (selecting with soft knob 2 or 3, both are usable)
Display shows on line 1: Press STORE to execute
Pressing button STORE now: nothing happens

If this is done with e.g. Destination RAM 12 the Display changes to a window where name can be changed
and after pressing STORE again the Multi was stored (Display: Multi stored)

I tried a dozens of things, but at my synth it is not possible to store a multi on places 16 to 127.

I need a lot of multis for my stage setup and therefore places 00 to 15 are not enough.
Nevertheless 16 to 127 also should work.
    Where is the fault?

After storing my multi to place 12 for example the display shows:
    MULTI mysound 01
    12 mysound
    REVERB REVERB

As you can see, the third line shows REVERB two times.
Regarding the config settings above just soft knob 1 is set to Delay depth.
Why do I get two times REVERB?

I have got the latest OS and all the settings are as described.
    What do I make wrong?
Do other user also know that facts?

  • Hi flabberbob

    I started with Multi 01.
When starting with Multi 16 everything is possible. Thanx.

BUT: I'm really disappointed by the actual manual.
There are so many things missing or incomplete.
When using my RACK XL I really was glad to have a good manual, I miss all that.
For anybody who is using the TI as a standalone unit ........
