Creating binaural beats with the Virus TI

    Hi there,

    Does anyone have experience producing binaural beats on the Virus TI? I am learning how to do it with Ableton and Operator, but really want to use a hardware synth instead as the sound will be much better.


    I've had the TI for a while, but just use it for producing electronic music, nothing like binaural beats.


    I don't know how accurate the spectrum analyser plug-ins are so was wondering if there was a way to calculate hz on the virus? I find this technical stuff a bit overwhelming so thought someone might be able to help. :)

    Yes, here is a Gamma wave at 40 hz.

    So what I need to be able to do is take two sine waves, pan one left and pan one right. To make an example such as the above youtube clip, I need a difference of 40 herz between the two sine waves. I don't think it matters too much what each frequence is, it just needs to be a difference of 40 hz.

    my aproach:


    a multipatch of 2 (and 2 midi channels)

    i used only the second osc for both patches to use different semitones and detuning.

    Patch 1 - osc2 = -4 semitone and detune 118 - Pan Left

    Patch 2 - osc2 = 0 semitone and detune 0 - Pan Right


    playing note A2

    180 HZ left

    220 HZ right
