at this rate my next synth gear purchase will not be by anything from kemper access music lol. i think they are dead as a company in terms of future products.

I contacted Access Kemper Virus support multiple times to clean the spam up.
-
that is similar to what I had to do and all good now.
-
I just messaged him will see if he actually responds lol
-
it won't work with new mac os x. If you run new mac then only real choice is to buy the Aura Mystery Islands software to use in DAW.
-
Most probably they like the sound?
well I was not impressed with it. I like tube amps more.
-
this is why I prefer using the software plugin editor for these tasks.
-
maybe you can tweak in the mod matrix?

To my understanding it’s not exactly a modeler since it doesn’t digitally model the components and signal flow of analog amps. It makes a profile of an existing amp/cab setup (in a room!) with the amp’s current settings, which means a profile captures one specific sound. Therefore it will only sound as good as you set up your real amp for capturing.
Did you try making profiles of your own amps?
Tube amps are lovely, except for the massive weight and maintenance costs.
no because I don’t own the stupid Kemper amp profiler nor do I ever plan to buy one especially considering the way they don’t support their hardware very well for new computer operating systems. I record my amps at home and use the tracks in my DAW or sampler. I do have an HX stomp for travel and Line 6 updates their hardware on a regular basis.

maybe if enough people flood him with emails and phone calls then he might wake up and take notice? Sheer arrogance to ignore many of us who bought his expensive hardware. Yeah I’d tell him that in person in German even. What excuse eh Herr Kemper?
-
Actually, I wasn't talking about tube vs digital modeler. I use both myself, and digital emulations can sound fantastic. However, I tried the Kemper and IMO it's one of the worst sounding amp sim on the market, and also one of the most expensive.
agree it sucks and not that great. WTF are guitar players buying these crappy overpriced Kemper amp modelers? Tube amps still rule.

maybe in 10 years but not holding my breath waiting on Kemper

this is why I feel that Elektron and Waldorf are the future of these synths with Nord to some extent and Roland with the Juno X/Jupiter X/Fantom line of synths. I was jamming last night on my Elektron Rytm and found it so much fun and easy to use with color OLED screen, modern interface, support for Mac OS Ventura with Overbridge plugin and a great sequencer. Virus still great but feels outdated in comparison except the polyphony and range of effects is greater. But I can quickly choose envelopes, filters and more with OLED screen missing from the Virus Ti2. Very sad.
-
yeah if I get 5-10 years out of my Virus all good then buy a new Waldorf Quantum MK2 to replace it.
-
That said Kemper should just declare Virus dead and not manufacture anymore hardware then. Why are places still selling new Virus hardware? I think that Access Kemper has actually ceased production of new hardware synths because my new Virus TI2 that I bought late last year had a 2022 mid year production date and may be end of stock perhaps?

I can confirm from Aura that the plugin does not allow flashing of the ROMs, and wont ever as there is a high chance of damaging the unit. I guess Ill need to track down an older computer to do a one time ROM overwrite, which isnt the end of the world...
good to know this! I bought a refurbished MacBook Air for $200 and re-imaged it with El Capitan to use tge Virus Control software and TI2 plugin for this reason and my Windows PC. Such a critical tool should run on newer macos hardware.

Kemper probably thinks hardware synths are dead since Howard Scarr and top sound designers jumped ship to U-He to focus on soft synths like Hive and Zebra. But yea it sucks these companies gave up on loyal customers. I’m done buying synths for a long time. Anything missing is at my fingertips in a soft synth and I’m not playing live in clubs anyways.

I’m going to try a few options and I have a 12 channel Zoom L12 mixer recorder that can also be an audio interface. I tried with USB and Aura plugin but that didn’t work out well. Ideally would like to use the Aura plugin with an audio interface to get best results. Worst case, I can record parts separately. I’m using Ableton Live 11 as my DAW so it’s pretty easy to do one at a time.

To be honest, most synth companies have poor support especially Roland and Korg so Access Kemper is not alone in bad customer service and lack of support. But at least Roland keeps their hardware updated with new software OS versions on Mac and PC Windows.
