Yes, a Virus TI3 modernized would be a dream as well as re-issue of new Oberheim DMX drum synthesizer and a brand new Elektron Octatrack MK3.
I am looking for a solid portable battery bank that can power my Virus TI2, Elektron Rytm, and 4u modular case for outdoor jams at parks and also a good reliable pair of wireless battery powered speakers.
awesome! looking forward to testing it out
outside of eurorack patching and my elektron gear, nothing comes close in synth hardware to the virus! I love my oberheim and modulars but the virus is pure magic as stand alone hardware synth.
Virus is best used stand alone anyways even when I got the TI to work on windows it was a pain to use with constant MIDI dropouts no matter how I set it up.
Larger color LCD touchscreen like Waldorf Quantum and Roland Fantom have
Built in sequencer
Expanded wave forms, effects, filters
Plus everything from TI/TI2
Compatible with modern OS like new Macs!
what a crap company
Kemper needs to quit with their dumb guitar amp modeler and partner with Elektron on a new synthesizer!
I think Virus is end of life product now at this point in time. Vendors have pretty much quit stocking and Kemper no longer is making new hardware for it I think.
The only remaining units are new old stock online. I love mine and it sounds great but horrid interface to DAW is the weak point. The features and multi-part multi-timbral and far out filters and sound effects and many types of synthesis are amazing and pretty unbeatable. I think only the Waldorf Quantum and Roland Fantom can approach what the Virus TI2 does at twice the cost new.
once you have a thousand patches loaded to the virus, you really only need a good sequencer and nothing else. I can play drums, bass, and melodic on one box and the effects and filters are superb with many types of synthesis like wavetable, granular, FM and so forth possible and many filter types and combos and great effects too. I do like the user interface better on my Elektron gear but the Virus multi timbral feature and sound is tops. Even Waldorf not there yet otherwise I would have bought a Quantum!
Congrats the Virus is fantastic! I use Windows 10 PC and old Macbook laptop with older version of Mac OS before Catalina think el Capitan works. I only use this to load the ROM banks of patches and update the firmware once. For use with a DAW, I use Aura Mystery Island plugin on new Macbook and Touch for ipad to choose patches but most of time, I use just hardware with an external hardware MIDI sequencer and to mixer than to audio interface to DAW for recording songs. The TI plugin is a joke and very slow and buggy even when I got it to work I soon learned to use the hardware user interface. The only benefit to the software plugin is using the custom arp patterns or easier way to use the powerful mod matrix.
True I give them that but Kemper Access completely dropped the ball of opportunity with the Virus to focus on their guitar amp thingy.
Yea the Virus is great as stand alone synth but forget about integration. Elektron has done a far better job in this regard!
At this point, there are soo many modern synths that do a great job with support of current O/S versions that Virus is no go for me as a new purchase in the future. I love my Virus TI2 keyboard synth that I bought new last year but would go with a Waldorf M, Quantum, or some other synth in 2024.
I would buy a second virus in a heartbeat it is that good! Having a smaller desktop unit would be great fun to use with my Rytm at live events but I would not pay 2k for a new one.
Homestly I would not count on a new Virus. Right now it seems like Elektron and Erica Synths are making the best new electronic synths.
Alles anzeigenGood day,
I have been looking already for a long time to add an Access Virus TI/TI2 to my music setup.
Love the trancy sounds it produces and my feeling is it just has to be part of my setup for EDM/Trance.
I use Ableton Live 11.3 suite, running on Macbook Pro M1 (Os Ventura), and a midi controller keyboard MIDI USB a Yamaha MX49 Mk2.
Also I have a Yamaha CS2X but that is more sentiments from my youth
Although I can still use the CS2X with my M-audio USB interface to my macbook pro and midi in/out cables.
Would you still recommend buying a Access Virus at the moment, with the ceased support/integration for Apple M1 computers?
Either the keyboard version, or desktop, and control the desktop with my midi keyboard.
I know that probably I shouldnt mention it here, but I would consider Novation Peak desktop as alternative, in combination with a nice ableton midi controller novation 61SL ML3.
Just because that unit has no integration issues, is still supported, and doesnt sound bad at all. Its not a virus though ......
Just a bit concerned about lack of support for Virus studio integration at the moment....
I know there are 3rd party solutions like Aura, but how does it actually work ?
Thanks for your experience,
DJ Robert V
If you get a discount then yes the Virus is still amazing. I use mine with external mixer recorder and sometimes with Aura plugin and old Mac or Windows PC.
hold 4 buttons and turn on power
EXIT+TAP+EDIT+CONFIG
woah kewl beans! I need to try that today!
Yes unless you buy a Waldorf Quantum keyboard. I use mine without the computer most of the time and that is the most fun. The total integration is mostly dead especially on new Mac OS X computers.
I need to update mine. I have been using mine with my Squarp Hapax MIDI sequencer and just recording the audio outs to mixer/audio interface. Easier to deal with.
