Does anyone know if the Virus Plug-In can be used without the Virus being connected? While at home, it's easy to connect and play but when I'm mobile, say at work or whatever, can I use a USB keyboard like an Akai MPK Mini with the plug-in?
Virus TI Plug-In Question

Nope, but there's an DSP emulator that runs the original TI/TI2 ROM that would do what you're looking for, with some limitations, if you know where to look.
-
Last I checked, the emulator runs only the Virus B ROM.

There is an emulator for the DSP that runs B/C ROMS, and another one in a demo-mode limited state that does TI/TI2. I've used both and think it's great that the synths are being preserved but the hardware is still the best option for now.

C Rom is working

And where to look indeed....

Okay so my next question is this:
Can I run multiple instances of the TI software in my DAW? So far I've only been able to run one in a project and when I try to run a second instance ot it, it tells me I need to have a Virus connected. If it is possible, what do I need to do to set up for that? Something to do with MULTI mode?

Thanks a lot. How does it perform?

Not what I wanted, but expected to hear…
Still going to give it a try.

Barely used any CPU on a Mac Studio M1 Max in Cubase 13.

OsTIrus is very usable in Cubase 13 running on a macMini 2018 (3.2 Ghz 6-Core Intel Core i7, 64GB RAM) with macOS Ventura 13.6.6.
Don't know how to put it in exact numbers, but it could ran 4 parts and CPU did increase less significantly compared to introducing some Neural DSP amp simulations or NI Kontakt 7 instances.
