"OsTIrus" VST Plugin released (public) - Emulator for Virus TI/2

  • One more thing to notice about OsTIrus:

At first it seems that in Multi mode OsTIrus cannot have different midi ranges (multi keyboard splits) but it’s just that in current plugin you cannot adjust them. These are kind of hidden parameters. If you have hardware Virus just midi dump your multi (with these ranges) to OsTIrus and so you’ll have them in your plugin. So it’s just editor lacking this page.

This is already placed as feature request, and there’s also a feature request to use SEQ mode instead of MULTI mode for the plugin by default.

  • Is anyone able to get the proper original TI vst skin? I've seen it online but the link on reddit took me to a blank page. The virus control vst is much better looking

    It’s available on their Discord.

  • How about using multiple instances in the same song/project? I just installed (for the first time) the regular Virus VST in my PC laptop and it worked fine. Should I switch to OsTirus instead? I am not planning to use it outside of my home.

If it works, I'd still go with the original Virus TI software. OsTIrus is very cool, but it still doesn't fully support all features of the Virus TI firmware. Most importantly it lacks the capability to use the SEQ mode, which is a dedicated mode to use with a DAW and is the mode used by the Virus TI software.

Regarding your question, yes, you can use multiple instances of the plugin, but it uses a lot of CPU. Why would you want to do that?

  • Something came to my mind, I haven’t tested it yet. There are some patches (using hypersaws at max level etc.) that eat polyphony very easily in hardware Ti2. Does OsTIrus behave same or is it better or worse? I suspect that it depends on computer power you have. I have a powerful M1 Mac…

You can overclock the DSP by right clicking and looking at the advanced options which would help with that.
